i think her eyes are alittle off center, but i really like it, its cute, reminds me of my grandma a bit. i like the way you did the hair, but i think darker lines would really make this drawing pop, and is there a reference for this pic, if so you might want to post it. 5/7 ;)

Thanks for the tip on darker lines! Im bad at that (scared Id ruin something and not being able to erase it cleanly) but ill try for the next image I draw :)

And yeah I think your right, the eyes are a little off.

Hers a link to the foto I used as reference: http://lexx.flowersfx.com/forge/gfxartist/CNV00002.jpg

one common thing for pencil artists at the begining is to do very strong outlines...in a portrait its usually not recommended as it makes the pic look flat
do volumes just from shading, not with lines
also, a lot of work is needed at shading

darker lines dont have to mean >out<line do it? was rather thinking making the dark areas harder.. more contrast so to speak..

I agree that no outlines look better (when done by someone who knows how).. its hard though especially with charcoal.. when your working with paint you paint over your sketch lines.. thats much easier(imo)..
